A Creative Catalyst for Your School

School Postcards was set up to help schools create their own identity, communicate effectively and promote creativity in schools. I set up and ran a small design agency for over 9 years, working as a corporate identity designer for commercial businesses; helping them to promote themselves and attract their target audience. During this time, I was asked by a local sixth form college to help them design a new logo. A school also approached me to help them promote their core values. I discovered that schools have a real need for this type of service and that my creativity, commercial insight, marketing experience, vivid imagination and illustration skills were a great asset. I love the varied and interesting challenges that I get from working with schools. I have seen for myself the huge emotional impact my work has had on the schools and the real difference it has made to the children’s motivation.

I believe that pupil engagement is very important when working with a school as it creates a shared sense of understanding of what the school is all about and gives the students a sense of ownership. I encourage pupil input wherever possible. This may take the form of developing children’s drawings to create appealing characters with which they can identify to help communicate the school’s message; or going into assembly to talk to the children about the project to get their input; or running a creative workshop.

I am passionate about promoting creativity in schools. It helps equip students with problem solving skills by looking at things in a different way. It fosters independent thinking. It sparks their imagination and it promotes innovation and entrepreneurship.

I am fully CRB checked and am a business mentor for Young Enterprise.
